2 Samuel 15:16

And the king went forth
Which determined the case:

and all his household after him family and his court;
they followed his example, and attended him in his flight:

and the king left ten women, [which were] concubines, to keep the
house;
not to defend it, which they were unable to do, but to look after the household goods and furniture, that they were not damaged by the conspirators; though one would think they could be of little service, and may wonder what he should leave them behind for; but this seems to be ordered by the overruling providence of God, to bring about what was threatened him, ( 2 Samuel 12:11 ) ; and it is much he had not thought of it; but it was hid from his eyes, that it might be fulfilled.

14 Entonces David dijo a todos sus siervos que estaban con él en Jerusalén: Levantaos, y huyamos, porque no podremos escapar delante de Absalón; daos prisa a andar, no sea que apresurándose él nos alcance, y arroje el mal sobre nosotros, y hiera la ciudad a filo de espada.
15 Y los siervos del rey dijeron al rey: He aquí, tus siervos están prestos a todo lo que nuestro señor el rey eligiere.
16 El rey entonces salió, con toda su casa a pie; y dejó el rey diez mujeres concubinas para que guardasen la casa.
17 Salió, pues , el rey con todo el pueblo a pie, y se pararon en un lugar distante.
18 Y todos sus siervos pasaban a su lado, y todos los cereteos y peleteos; y todos los geteos, seiscientos hombres que habían venido a pie desde Gat, e iban delante del rey.
