Genesis 6:19

And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort
shalt thou bring into the ark
That is, of fowls, cattle, and creeping things, as after explained; and two of each sort at least were to be brought, as Jarchi observes, and not fewer; though of the clean sort there were to be more, even seven, as after directed; and these were to be brought, that they might preserve their species, as it follows: to keep [them] alive with thee;
to be fed and nourished by him in the ark, while others perished by the flood, that so they might propagate their own species, and be continued, for which reason it is further ordered: they shall be male and female;
not any two, but one male and one female, for the end before mentioned.

17 Y, he aquĂ­ que yo traigo un diluvio de aguas sobre la tierra, para destruir toda carne en que haya espĂ­ritu de vida debajo del cielo; todo lo que hay en la tierra morirĂĄ.
18 Mas establecerĂ© mi pacto contigo, y entrarĂĄs en el arca tĂș, y tus hijos, y tu mujer, y las mujeres de tus hijos contigo.
19 Y de todo lo que vive, de toda carne, dos de cada uno meterĂĄs en el arca, para que tengan vida contigo; macho y hembra serĂĄn.
20 De las aves segĂșn su especie, y de las bestias segĂșn su especie, de todo animal de la tierra segĂșn su especie, dos de cada uno entrarĂĄn a ti para que haya vida.
21 Y tĂș tĂłmate toda vianda que se come, y jĂșntatela, y serĂĄ para ti y para ellos por mantenimiento.
