Números 34

1 Y el SEÑOR habló a Moisés, diciendo:

2 Manda a los hijos de Israel, y diles: Cuando hubiereis entrado en la tierra de Canaán, es a saber, la tierra que os ha de caer en heredad, la tierra de Canaán según sus términos;

3 tendréis el lado del mediodía desde el desierto de Zin hasta los términos de Edom; y os será el término del mediodía al extremo del Mar Salado hacia el oriente.

4 Y este término os irá rodeando desde el mediodía hasta la subida de Acrabim, y pasará hasta Zin; y sus salidas serán del mediodía a Cades-barnea; y saldrá a Hasar-adar, y pasará hasta Asmón;

5 y rodeará este término, desde Asmón hasta el arroyo de Egipto, y sus remates serán al occidente.

6 Y el término occidental os será el Gran Mar; este término os será el término occidental.

7 Y el término del norte será éste: desde el Gran Mar os señalaréis al monte de Hor.

8 Del monte de Hor señalaréis a la entrada de Hamat, y serán las salidas de aquel término a Zedad;

9 y saldrá este término a Zifrón, y serán sus salidas a Hazar-enán; éste os será el término del norte.

10 Y por término al oriente os señalaréis desde Hazar-enán hasta Sefam;

11 y descenderá este término desde Sefam a Ribla, al oriente de Aín; y descenderá este término, y llegará a la costa del mar de Cineret al oriente.

12 Después descenderá este término al Jordán, y serán sus salidas al mar Salado; ésta será vuestra tierra por sus términos alrededor.

13 Y mandó Moisés a los hijos de Israel, diciendo: Esta es la tierra que heredaréis por suerte, la cual mandó el SEÑOR que diese a las nueve tribus, y a la media tribu;

14 porque la tribu de los hijos de Rubén según las casas de sus padres, y la tribu de los hijos de Gad según las casas de sus padres, y la media tribu de Manasés, han tomado su herencia.

15 Dos tribus y media tomaron su heredad del otro lado del Jordán de Jericó al oriente, al nacimiento del sol .

16 Y habló el SEÑOR a Moisés, diciendo:

17 Estos son los nombres de los varones que os tomarán la posesión de la tierra para vosotros: Eleazar el sacerdote, y Josué hijo de Nun.

18 Y tomaréis de cada tribu un príncipe, para tomar la posesión de la tierra.

19 Y éstos son los nombres de los varones: De la tribu de Judá, Caleb hijo de Jefone.

20 Y de la tribu de los hijos de Simeón, Semuel hijo de Amiud.

21 De la tribu de Benjamín, Elidad hijo de Quislón.

22 Y de la tribu de los hijos de Dan, el príncipe Buqui hijo de Jogli.

23 De los hijos de José: de la tribu de los hijos de Manasés, el príncipe Haniel hijo de Efod.

24 Y de la tribu de los hijos de Efraín, el príncipe Kemuel hijo de Siftán.

25 Y de la tribu de los hijos de Zabulón, el príncipe Elizafán hijo de Parnac.

26 Y de la tribu de los hijos de Isacar, el príncipe Paltiel hijo de Azán.

27 Y de la tribu de los hijos de Aser, el príncipe Ahiud hijo de Selomi.

28 Y de la tribu de los hijos de Neftalí, el príncipe Pedael hijo de Amiud.

29 Estos son a los que mandó el SEÑOR que hiciesen heredar la tierra a los hijos de Israel en la tierra de Canaán.

Números 34 Commentary

Chapter 34

The bounds of the promised land. (1-15) Those appointed to divide the land. (16-29)

Verses 1-15 Canaan was of small extent; as it is here bounded, it is but about 160 miles in length, and about 50 in breadth; yet this was the country promised to the father of the faithful, and the possession of the seed of Israel. This was that little spot of ground, in which alone, for many ages, God was known. This was the vineyard of the Lord, the garden enclosed; but as it is with gardens and vineyards, the narrowness of the space was made up by the fruitfulness of the soil. Though the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof, yet few know him, and serve him; but those few are happy, because fruitful to God. Also, see how little a share of the world God gives to his own people. Those who have their portion in heaven, have reason to be content with a small pittance of this earth. Yet a little that a righteous man has, having it from the love of God, and with his blessing, is far better and more comfortable than the riches of many wicked.

Verses 16-29 God here appoints men to divide the land to them. So sure must they feel of victory and success while God fought for them, that the persons are named who should be intrusted with the dividing of the land.

In this chapter the bounds and borders of the land Canaan are described, according to the direction of the Lord to Moses, Nu 34:1,2, the south border, Nu 34:3-5, the western border, Nu 34:6, the north border, Nu 34:7-9, the east border, Nu 34:10-12, which is ordered to be divided by lot to the nine tribes and a half, two tribes and a half having received their inheritance on the other side Jordan, Nu 34:13-15, and the persons are nominated to divide the land, Eleazar and Joshua, with one prince out of every tribe, and who are mentioned by name, Nu 34:16-29.
