Luke 23:52

This man went unto Pilate,
&C.] Mark says, he went "boldly" to him; (See Gill on Mark 15:43).

and begged the body of Jesus;
knowing he was dead; that he might bury it, as the Ethiopic version adds, and prevent its being inferred with the two malefactors, or abused by the mob.

52 this man went to Pilate, and asked for Jesus' body.

53 He took it down, and wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb that was cut in stone, where no man had ever yet lain.
