John 17:10

Listen to John 17:10
10 And all my things be thine, and thy things be mine [And all mine things be thine, and thine things be mine]; and I am clarified in them.

John 17:10 Meaning and Commentary

John 17:10

And all mine are thine, and thine are mine
Christ is speaking not of things but of persons; otherwise all the perfections of his nature as God, and all the works he did, and doctrines he taught as man, were of his Father; as all the perfections of his Father, his nature, his names, his works, his worship, were his; the same that belongs to the one belongs to the other: but persons are here meant, and these the elect of God, particularly the apostles, who were his and his Father's; belonged to them both by election, covenant transactions, redemption, and efficacious grace in conversion; which mutual interest arises from an union in nature, an agreement in covenant, and a conjunction in operation:

and I am glorified in them:
or by them, they ascribing all divine perfections, works and worship to him; attributing the whole of their salvation to him, and giving him all the glory of it; believing in him; walking worthy of him, in their lives and conversations; suffering patiently and cheerfully for his sake; and abiding by his Gospel and ordinances; and he will be glorified by them, and in them hereafter, and that to all eternity.

John 17:10 In-Context

8 For the words that thou hast given to me, I gave to them; and they have taken, and have known verily, that I went out from thee; and they believed, that thou sentest me.
9 I pray for them, I pray not for the world, but for them that thou hast given to me, for they be thine.
10 And all my things be thine, and thy things be mine [And all mine things be thine, and thine things be mine]; and I am clarified in them.
11 And now I am not in the world, and these be in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep them in thy name, which thou hast given to me [whom thou hast given to me], that they be one, as we be.
12 While I was with them, I kept them in thy name; those that thou gavest to me, I kept, and none of them perished, but the son of perdition, that the scripture be fulfilled.
