When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"1
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized,2 every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.3 And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.4
The promise is for you and your children5 and for all who are far off6--for all whom the Lord our God will call."
With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation."7
Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number8 that day.
They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching9 and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread10 and to prayer.11
Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles.12
All the believers were together and had everything in common.13
Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.14
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.15 They broke bread16 in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,
praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.17 And the Lord added to their number18 daily those who were being saved.
