Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. 1Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for 2"God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."

3Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you,

4casting all your anxieties on him, because 5he cares for you.

6Be sober-minded; 7be watchful. Your 8adversary the devil 9prowls around 10like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

11Resist him, 12firm in your faith, knowing that 13the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.

And 14after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, 15who has called you to his 16eternal glory in Christ, will himself 17restore, 18confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

19To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
