1Noweven the first covenant had1regulations of divineworship and 2the earthlysanctuary.
For there was 3a atabernacleprepared, the bouterone, in which were 4the lampstand and 5the table and 6the csacredbread; this is called the holyplace.
3Behind7the secondveil there was a dtabernacle which is called the 8Holy of Holies,
4having a goldene9altar of incense and 10the ark of the covenantcovered on allsides with gold, in which was 11a goldenjarholding the manna, and 12Aaron'srod which budded, and 13the tables of the covenant;
and above it were the 14cherubim of glory15overshadowing the mercyseat; but of thesethings we cannotnowspeak in detail.
6Now when thesethings have been soprepared, the priests16are continuallyentering the foutergtabernacleperforming the divineworship,
but into 17the second, only18the highpriest enters 19once a year, 20not without taking blood, which he 21offers for himself and for the h22sins of the people committed in ignorance.
823The HolySpirit is signifyingthis, 24that the way into the holyplace has not yet been disclosed while the ioutertabernacle is stillstanding,
9which is a symbol for the presenttime. Accordingly25bothgifts and sacrifices are offered which 26cannotmake the worshiperperfect in conscience,
since they relate only to 27food and 28drink and various29washings, 30regulations for the jbodyimposeduntil31a time of reformation.
