Lièwángjìxià 19

1 Xīxījiā wáng tīngjian , jiù sī liè yīfu , pī shàng mā bù , jìn le Yēhéhuá de diàn .

2 Shǐ jiāzǎi Yǐlìyàjìng hé shū jì shĕ bǎi nà , bìng jìsī zhōng de zhǎnglǎo , dōu pī shàng mā bù , qù jiàn yà mó sī de érzi xiānzhī Yǐsaìyà ,

3 Duì tā shuō , Xīxījiā rúcǐ shuō , jīnrì shì jí nán , zé fá , língrǔ de rìzi , jiù rú fùrén jiāngyào shēngchǎn yīnghái , què méiyǒu lìliang shēngchǎn .

4 Huòzhĕ Yēhéhuá nǐde shén tīngjian là bǎi shā jī de yīqiè huà , jiù shì tā zhǔrén Yàshù wáng dǎfa tā lái rǔmà yǒngshēng shén de huà , Yēhéhuá nǐde shén tīngjian zhè huà , jiù fā chìzé . gùcǐ , qiú nǐ wèi yú shèng de mín yáng shēng dǎogào .

5 Xīxījiā wáng de chénpú jiù qù jiàn Yǐsaìyà .

6 Yǐsaìyà duì tāmen shuō , yào zhèyàng duì nǐmen de zhǔrén shuō , Yēhéhuá rúcǐ shuō , nǐ tīngjian Yàshù wáng de púrén xièdú wǒde huà , búyào jùpà .

7 Wǒ bì jīng dòng ( yuánwén zuò shǐ líng jìnrù ) tāde xīn , tā yào tīngjian fēngshēng jiù guī huí bĕn dì . wǒ bì shǐ tā zaì nàli dǎo zaì dāo xià .

8 Là bǎi shā jī huí qù , zhēng yùjiàn Yàshù wáng gōngdǎ Lìná , yuánlái tā zǎo tīngjian Yàshù wáng bá yíng líkāi Làjí .

9 Yàshù wáng tīngjian rén lún Gǔshí wáng tè hā jiā shuō , tā chūlai yào yǔ nǐ zhēng zhàn . yúshì Yàshù wáng yòu dǎfa shǐzhĕ qù jiàn Xīxījiā , fēnfu tāmen shuō ,

10 Nǐmen duì Yóudà wáng Xīxījiā rúcǐ shuō , búyào tīng nǐ suǒ yǐkào de shén qī hōng nǐ shuō , Yēlùsǎlĕng bì bú jiāo zaì Yàshù wáng de shǒu zhōng .

11 Nǐ zǒng tīngshuō Yàshù zhū wáng xiàng liè guó suǒ xíng de , nǎi shì jìn xíng mièjué , nándào nǐ hái néng déjiù ma .

12 Wǒ lièzǔ suǒ huǐmiè de , jiù shì gē sǎn , Hālán , lì sè , hé shǔ Tílā sǎ de Yīdiàn rén , zhèxie guó de shén hé céng zhĕngjiù zhèxie guó ne .

13 Hā mǎ de wáng , yà Ěr bá de wáng , xī fǎ wà yīn chéng de wáng , xī ná , hé yǐ wà de wáng dōu zaì nǎli ne .

14 Xīxījiā cóng shǐzhĕ shǒu lǐ jiē guō shūxìn lái , kàn wán le , jiù shàng Yēhéhuá de diàn , jiāng shūxìn zaì Yēhéhuá miànqián shaì kāi .

15 Xīxījiā xiàng Yēhéhuá dǎogào shuō , zuò zaì èr Jīlùbǎi shàng Yēhéhuá Yǐsèliè de shén a , nǐ shì tiān xià wàn guó de shén , nǐ céng chuàngzào tiāndì .

16 Yēhéhuá a , qiú nǐ cè ĕr ér tīng . Yēhéhuá a , qiú nǐ zhēng yǎn ér kàn . yào tīng xī ná jī lì dǎfa shǐzhĕ lái rǔmà yǒngshēng shén de huà .

17 Yēhéhuá a , Yàshù zhū wáng guǒrán shǐ liè guó hé liè guó zhī dì biàn wèi huāngliáng ,

18 Jiāng liè guó de shénxiàng dōu rēng zaì huǒ lǐ . yīnwei tā bĕn bù shì shén , nǎi shì rén shǒu suǒ zào de , shì mùtou shítou de , suǒyǐ mièjué tā .

19 Yēhéhuá wǒmen de shén a , xiànzaì qiú nǐ jiù wǒmen tuōlí Yàshù wáng de shǒu , shǐ tiān xià wàn guó dōu zhīdào wéidú nǐ Yēhéhuá shì shén .

20 Yà mó sī de érzi Yǐsaìyà jiù dǎfa rén qù jiàn Xīxījiā , shuō , Yēhéhuá Yǐsèliè de shén rúcǐ shuō , nǐ jìrán qiú wǒ gōngjī Yàshù wáng xī ná jī lì , wǒ yǐ tīngjian le .

21 Yēhéhuá lún tā zhèyàng shuō , Xī \'ān de chǔnǚ miǎoshì nǐ , chīxiào nǐ . Yēlùsǎlĕng de nǚzi xiàng nǐ yáo tóu .

22 Nǐ rǔmà shuí . xièdú shuí . yáng qǐ shēng lái , gāo jǔ yǎnmù gōngjī shuí ne . nǎi shì gōngjī Yǐsèliè de shèng zhĕ .

23 Nǐ jiè nǐde shǐzhĕ rǔmà zhǔ , bìng shuō , wǒ shuaìlǐng xǔduō zhàn chē shàng shāndǐng , dào Lìbānèn jí shēn zhī chù . wǒ yào kǎn fá qízhōng gāo dà de xiāng bǎi shù hé jiā mĕi de sōng shù . wǒ bì shàng jí gāo zhī chù , jìnrù féi tián de shùlín .

24 Wǒ yǐjing zaì waì bāng wā jǐng hē shuǐ . wǒ bì yòng jiǎo zhǎng tā gān Āijí de yīqiè hé .

25 Yēhéhuá shuō , wǒ zǎo xiān suǒ zuò de , gǔ shí suǒ lì de , jiù shì xiànzaì jiè nǐ shǐ jiāngù chéng huāng feì , biàn wèi luàn duī , zhè shì nǐ qǐ méiyǒu tīngjian ma .

26 Suǒyǐ qízhōng de jūmín lìliang shén xiǎo , jīng huáng xiūkuì . tāmen xiàng yĕcǎo , xiàng qīng caì , rú fáng dǐng shàng de cǎo , yòu rú wèi zhǎng chéng ér kū gān de hé jià .

27 Nǐ zuò xià , nǐ chū qù , nǐ jìnlái , nǐ xiàng wǒ fā liè nù , wǒ dōu zhīdào .

28 Yīn nǐ xiàng wǒ fā liè nù , yòu yīn nǐ kuángào de huà dádào wǒ ĕr zhōng, wǒ jiù yào yòng gōuzǐ gōu shàng nǐde bízi , bǎ jiaóhuán fàng zaì nǐ kǒu lǐ , shǐ nǐ cóng nǐ lái de lù zhuǎn huí qù .

29 Yǐsèliè rén nǎ , wǒ cì nǐmen yī gè zhèngjù , nǐmen jīnnián yào chī zì shēng de , míngnián yĕ yào chī zì zhǎng de . zhìyú hòu nián , nǐmen yào gēngzhòng shōugē , zāi zhí pútaóyuán , chī qízhōng de guǒzi .

30 Yóudà jiā suǒ taótuō yú shèng de , réng yào wǎng xià zhá gēn , xiàng shàng jié guǒ .

31 Bì yǒuyú shèng de mín cóng Yēlùsǎlĕng ér chū . bì yǒu taótuō de rén cóng Xīānshān ér lái . Yēhéhuá de rèxīn bì chéngjiù zhè shì .

32 Suǒyǐ , Yēhéhuá lún Yàshù wáng rúcǐ shuō , tā bì bùdé lái dào zhè chéng , yĕ bú zaì zhèlǐ shè jiàn , bùdé ná dùnpái dào chéng qián , yĕ bù zhú lĕi gōng chéng .

33 Tā cóng nǎ tiaó lù lái , bì cóng nà tiaó lù huí qù , bì bùdé lái dào zhè chéng . zhè shì Yēhéhuá shuō de .

34 Yīn wǒ wèi zìjǐ de yuángù , yòu wèi wǒ púrén Dàwèi de yuángù , bì bǎohù zhĕngjiù zhè chéng .

35 Dāng yè , Yēhéhuá de shǐzhĕ chū qù , zaì Yàshù yíng zhōng shā le shí bā wàn wǔ qiā rén . qīngzǎo yǒu rén qǐlai , yī kàn , dōu shì sǐ shī le .

36 Yàshù wáng xī ná jī lì jiù bá yíng huí qù , zhù zaì Níníwēi .

37 Yī rì zaì tāde shén ní sī luò miào lǐ kòu baì , tā érzi yà dé mǐ lè hé shā lì sè yòng dāo shā le tā , jiù taó dào yà là xī dì . tā érzi Yǐsāhādùnjiēxù tā zuò wáng .

Lièwángjìxià 19 Commentary

Chapter 19

Hezekiah receives an answer of peace. (1-7) Sennacherib's letter. (8-19) His fall is prophesied. (20-34) The Assyrian army destroyed, Sennacherib slain. (35-37)

Verses 1-7 Hezekiah discovered deep concern at the dishonour done to God by Rabshakeh's blasphemy. Those who speak from God to us, we should in a particular manner desire to speak to God for us. The great Prophet is the great Intercessor. Those are likely to prevail with God, who lift up their hearts in prayer. Man's extremity is God's opportunity. While his servants can speak nothing but terror to the profane, the proud, and the hypocritical, they have comfortable words for the discouraged believer.

Verses 8-19 Prayer is the never-failing resource of the tempted Christian, whether struggling with outward difficulties or inward foes. At the mercy-seat of his almighty Friend he opens his heart, spreads his case, like Hezekiah, and makes his appeal. When he can discern that the glory of God is engaged on his side, faith gains the victory, and he rejoices that he shall never be moved. The best pleas in prayer are taken from God's honour.

Verses 20-34 All Sennacherib's motions were under the Divine cognizance. God himself undertakes to defend the city; and that person, that place, cannot but be safe, which he undertakes to protect. The invasion of the Assyrians probably had prevented the land from being sown that year. The next is supposed to have been the sabbatical year, but the Lord engaged that the produce of the land should be sufficient for their support during those two years. As the performance of this promise was to be after the destruction of Sennacherib's army, it was a sign to Hezekiah's faith, assuring him of that present deliverance, as an earnest of the Lord's future care of the kingdom of Judah. This the Lord would perform, not for their righteousness, but his own glory. May our hearts be as good ground, that his word may strike root therein, and bring forth fruit in our lives.

Verses 35-37 That night which followed the sending of this message to Hezekiah, the main body of their army was slain. See how weak the mightiest men are before Almighty God. Who ever hardened himself against Him and prospered? The king of Assyria's own sons became his murderers. Those whose children are undutiful, ought to consider whether they have not been so to their Father in heaven? This history exhibits a strong proof of the good of firm trust and confidence in God. He will afflict, but not forsake his people. It is well when our troubles drive us to our knees. But does it not reprove our unbelief? How unwilling are we to rest on the declaration of Jehovah! How desirous to know in what way he will save us! How impatient when relief is delayed! But we must wait for the fulfilling of his word. Lord, help our unbelief.

INTRODUCTION TO 2 KINGS 19

This chapter relates that King Hezekiah, on a report made to him of Rabshakeh's speech, sent a message to the prophet Isaiah to pray for him, who returned him a comfortable and encouraging answer, 2Ki 19:1-7 and that upon Rabshakeh's return to the king of Assyria, he sent to Hezekiah a terrifying letter, 2Ki 19:8-13, which Hezekiah spread before the Lord, and prayed unto him to save him and his people out of the hands of the king of Assyria, 2Ki 19:14-19, to which he had a gracious answer sent him by the prophet Isaiah, promising him deliverance from the Assyrian army, 2Ki 19:20-34, which accordingly was destroyed by an angel in one night, and Sennacherib fleeing to Nineveh, was slain by his two sons, 2Ki 19:35-37.
