until we all attain to 1the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, 2to mature manhood,a to the measure of the stature of 3the fullness of Christ,
so that we may no longer be children, 4tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in 5deceitful schemes.
Rather, 6speaking the truth in love, we are to 7grow up in every way into him who is 8the head, into Christ,
169from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, 10when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
Now this I say and 11testify in the Lord, 12that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, 13in the futility of their minds.
They 14are darkened in their understanding, 15alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to 16their hardness of heart.
They 17have become callous and 18have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity.
But that is not the way you 19learned Christ!--
assuming that 20you have heard about him and 21were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus,
to 22put off 23your old self,b which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through 24deceitful desires,
and 25to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
