21 Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother wasa Japheth; Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber.1 22 The sons of Shem: Elam,2 Asshur,3 Arphaxad,4 Lud and Aram.5 23 The sons of Aram: Uz,6 Hul, Gether and Meshech.b 24 Arphaxad was the father ofc Shelah, and Shelah the father of Eber.7 25 Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg,d because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan. 26 Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27 Hadoram, Uzal,8 Diklah, 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba,9 29 Ophir,10 Havilah and Jobab.
