Job 36:7-17 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
7 He does not take his eyes off the righteous;1 he enthrones them with kings2 and exalts them forever.3 8 But if men are bound in chains,4 held fast by cords of affliction,5 9 he tells them what they have done-- that they have sinned arrogantly.6 10 He makes them listen7 to correction8 and commands them to repent of their evil.9 11 If they obey and serve him,10 they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity11 and their years in contentment.12 12 But if they do not listen, they will perish by the sworda13 and die without knowledge.14 13 "The godless in heart15 harbor resentment;16 even when he fetters them, they do not cry for help.17 14 They die in their youth,18 among male prostitutes of the shrines.19 15 But those who suffer20 he delivers in their suffering;21 he speaks22 to them in their affliction.23 16 "He is wooing24 you from the jaws of distress to a spacious place25 free from restriction,26 to the comfort of your table27 laden with choice food.28 17 But now you are laden with the judgment due the wicked;29 judgment and justice have taken hold of you.30
