And Samuel said, what meaneth then this bleating of the sheep
in mine ears
For the orders were to destroy all living creatures belonging to the Amalekites, ( 1 Samuel 15:3 ) if therefore Saul had performed the commandment of the Lord, as he said he had, from whence were these sheep Samuel heard bleating?

and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?
where do they come from? these questions he put to convict him of the falsehood he had delivered; the bleating and lowing of these creatures proved him a liar, and were witnesses of his breach of the divine command; and one would think every bleating and lowing of these must alarm his conscience, unless dreadfully stupefied.

12 Il se leva de bon matin, pour aller au-devant de SaĂŒl. Et on vint lui dire: SaĂŒl est allĂ© Ă  Carmel, et voici, il s'est Ă©rigĂ© un monument; puis il s'en est retournĂ©, et, passant plus loin, il est descendu Ă  Guilgal.
13 Samuel se rendit auprĂšs de SaĂŒl, et SaĂŒl lui dit: Sois bĂ©ni de l'Eternel! J'ai observĂ© la parole de l'Eternel.
14 Samuel dit: Qu'est-ce donc que ce bĂȘlement de brebis qui parvient Ă  mes oreilles, et ce mugissement de boeufs que j'entends?
15 SaĂŒl rĂ©pondit: Ils les ont amenĂ©s de chez les AmalĂ©cites, parce que le peuple a Ă©pargnĂ© les meilleures brebis et les meilleurs boeufs, afin de les sacrifier Ă  l'Eternel, ton Dieu; et le reste, nous l'avons dĂ©vouĂ© par interdit.
16 Samuel dit Ă  SaĂŒl: ArrĂȘte, et je te dĂ©clarerai ce que l'Eternel m'a dit cette nuit. Et SaĂŒl lui dit: Parle!
