1Thereforeif you have been 1raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, whereChrist is, 2seated at the righthand of God.
2
3Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
3
For you have 4died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
4
WhenChrist, 5who is our life, is revealed, 6then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
5
7Thereforeconsider8the members of your earthly body as dead to 9immorality, impurity, passion, evildesire, and greed, whichamounts to idolatry.
6
For it is because of thesethings that 10the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience,
7
and 11in them you alsooncewalked, when you were living in them.
8
But now you also, 12put them allaside: 13anger, wrath, malice, slander, and 14abusivespeech from your mouth.
9
15Do not lie to oneanother, since you 16laidaside the oldself with its evil practices,
10
and have 17put on the newself who is being 18renewed to a trueknowledge19according to the image of the One who 20created him-
11
a renewal in which21there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, 22circumcised and uncircumcised, 23barbarian, Scythian, 24slave and freeman, but 25Christ is all, and in all.
12
So, as those who have been 26chosen of God, holy and beloved, 27put on a 28heart of compassion, kindness, 29humility, gentleness and 30patience;
13
31bearing with oneanother, and 32forgivingeachother, whoever*has a complaintagainstanyone; 33just as the Lordforgave you, soalso should you.
14
Beyondallthesethings put on love, which is 34the perfectbond of 35unity.
15
Let 36the peace of Christrule in your hearts, to whichindeed you were called in 37onebody; and be thankful.
16
Let 38the word of Christrichlydwellwithin you, with allwisdom39teaching and admonishingoneanother40with psalms and hymns and spiritualsongs, 41singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
17
42Whatever you do in wordordeed, do all in the name of the LordJesus, 43givingthanksthrough Him to God the Father.
Family Relations
1844Wives, 45be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19
46Husbands, love your wives and do not be embitteredagainst them.
20
47Children, be obedient to your parents in allthings, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord.
21
48Fathers, do not exasperate your children, so that they will not loseheart.
22
49Slaves, in allthingsobeythose who are your masters on earth, 50not with externalservice, as those who merely pleasemen, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.
23
Whatever* you do, do your workheartily, 51as for the Lordratherthan* for men,
24
52knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of 53the inheritance. It is the LordChrist whom you 54serve.
25
For 55he who doeswrong will receive the consequences of the wrongwhich he has done, and 56that withoutpartiality.
