"He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with mannawhich you did not know, nor did your fathersknow, that He might make you aunderstand that 5man does not live by breadalone, but manlives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD.
"6Your clothing did not wear out on you, nor did your footswellthesefortyyears.

a landwhere you will eatfoodwithoutscarcity, in which you will not lackanything ; a landwhosestones are iron, and out of whose hills you can digcopper.
"When 9you have eaten and are satisfied, you shall bless the LORD your God for the goodlandwhich He has given you.
"cBeware that you do not 10forget the LORD your God by not keeping His commandments and His ordinances and His statuteswhich I am commanding you today ;
12otherwise, 11when you have eaten and are satisfied, and have builtgoodhouses and lived in them,
and when your herds and your flocksmultiply, and your silver and goldmultiply, and all that you have multiplies,
then your heart will becomedproud and you will 12forget the LORD your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt, out of the house of eslavery.
"He led you through 13the great and terriblewilderness, with its 14fieryserpents and scorpions and thirstygroundwherethere was nowater ; He 15broughtwater for you out of the rock of flint.
"In the wilderness He fed you manna16which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might 17test you, to dogood for you fin the end.
"Otherwise, 18you may say in your heart, 'My power and the strength of my handmade me thiswealth.'
"But you shall remember the LORD your God, for 19it is He who is giving you power to makewealth, that He may confirm His covenantwhich He swore to your fathers, as it is thisday.
"It shall come about if you everforget the LORD your God and goafterothergods and serve them and worship them, 20I testify against you today that you will surelyperish.
"Like the nations that the LORDmakes to perishbefore you, so21you shall perish ; because you would not listen to the voice of the LORD your God.
