Then Godspokeallthesewords, saying,

"1I am the LORD your God, 2whobrought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of aslavery.

"3You shall havenoother4godsbbefore Me.

"5You shall not make for yourself can idol, or anylikeness of what is in heavenabove or on the earthbeneath or in the waterunder the earth.
5
"6You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a 7jealousGod, 8visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,

but showinglovingkindness to 9thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

"10You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not dleave him unpunishedwhotakes His name in vain.
8"Remember11the sabbathday, to keep it holy.

"12Sixdays you shall labor and doall your work,
10
but the seventhday is a sabbath of the LORD your God ; in it 13you shall not doanywork, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your femaleservant or your cattle or your sojournerwhoestays with you.

"14For in sixdays the LORDmade the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventhday ; therefore the LORDblessed the sabbathday and made it holy.

"15Honor your father and your mother, that your 16days may be prolonged in the landwhich the LORD your Godgives you.

"17You shall not murder.
14
"18You shall not commitadultery.
15
"19You shall not steal.
16
"20You shall not bearfalsewitness against your 21neighbor.
17
"22You shall not covet your neighbor'shouse ; 23you shall not covet your neighbor'swife or his maleservant or his femaleservant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor."
1824All the peopleperceived the fthunder and the lightningflashes and the sound of the trumpet and the mountainsmoking ; and when the peoplesaw it, they trembled and stood at a distance.
1925Then they said to Moses, "Speakgto us yourself and we will listen ; but let not Godspeakhto us, or we will die."
20Mosessaid to the people, "26Do not be afraid ; for God has come in order27to test you, and in order that 28the fear of Him may iremain with you, so that you may not sin."

So the peoplestood at a distance, while Mosesapproached29the thickcloudwhereGod was.

Then the LORDsaid to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'You yourselves have seen that 30I have spokenjto you from heaven.

'31You shall not make other gods besides Me; 32gods of silver or gods of gold, you shall not make for yourselves.
24
'You shall make33an altar of earth for Me, and you shall sacrifice on it your 34burntofferings and your 35peaceofferings, 36your sheep and your oxen ; in everyplace37where I cause My name to be remembered, I will come to you and bless you.
25'If you make an altar of stone for Me, 38you shall not build it of cutstones, for if you wield your tool on it, you will profane it.
26
'And you shall not go up by steps to My altar, so that 39your nakedness will not be exposed on it.'
