Then 1Mosesentreated the LORD his God, and said, "O LORD, why does Your angerburn against Your peoplewhom You have brought out from the land of Egypt with greatpower and with a mightyhand?
12"Why should 2the Egyptiansspeak, saying, 'With evil intent He brought them out to kill them in the mountains and to destroy them from the face of the earth '? Turn from Your burninganger and change Your mindabout doing harm to Your people.
13"RememberAbraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants to whom You 3swore by Yourself, and said to them, 'I will 4multiply your adescendants as the stars of the heavens, and 5allthisland of which I have spoken I will give to your bdescendants, and they shall inherit it forever.' "
146So the LORDchanged His mindabout the harmwhich He said He would do to His people.
157Then Mosesturned and wentdown from the mountain with the twotablets of the testimony in his hand, 8tablets which were written on bothcsides; they were written on one side and the other.
The tablets were God'swork, and the writing was God'swritingengraved on the tablets.
Now when Joshuaheard the sound of the peopledas they shouted, he said to Moses, "There is a sound of war in the camp."
But he said, "It is not the sound of the cry of triumph, Nor is it the sound of the cry of defeat; But the sound of singing I hear."
