21Tell me, you who want to be underlaw, do you not 1listen to the law?
For it is written that Abrahamhadtwosons, 2one by the bondwoman and 3one by the freewoman.
But 4the son by the bondwomanawas bornaccording to the flesh, and 5the son by the freewomanthrough the promise.
24b6This is allegoricallyspeaking, for these women are twocovenants: one proceeding from 7MountSinaibearingchildrencwho are to be 8slaves; dshe is Hagar.
25NowthisHagar is MountSinai in Arabia and corresponds to the presentJerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.
But 9the Jerusalemabove is free; eshe is our mother.
For it is written, "10REJOICE, BARRENWOMAN WHO DOES NOT BEAR; BREAKFORTH AND SHOUT, YOU WHO ARE NOT IN LABOR; FOR MORENUMEROUS ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE DESOLATETHAN OF THE ONE WHO HAS A HUSBAND."
And you brethren, 11likeIsaac, are 12children of promise.
But as at that time13he who was bornaccording to the flesh14persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, 15so it is nowalso.
But what does the Scripturesay? "16CAST OUT THE BONDWOMAN AND HER SON, FOR 17THE SON OF THE BONDWOMAN SHALL NOT BE AN HEIR WITH THE SON OF THE FREEWOMAN."
31Sothen, brethren, we are not children of a bondwoman, fbut of the freewoman.
