Early in the morning He cameagain into the temple, and all the people were coming to Him; and 1He satdown and began to teach them.

The scribes and the Phariseesbrought a womancaught in adultery, and having set her in the center of the court,

they said to Him, "Teacher, thiswoman has been caught in adultery, in the veryact.

"Now in the Law2Mosescommanded us to stonesuchwomen; whatthen do You say?"

They were sayingthis, 3testing Him, 4so that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesusstoopeddown and with His fingerwrote on the ground.

But when they persisted in asking Him, 5He straightened up, and said to them, "6He who is withoutsin among you, let him be the 7first to throw a stone at her."

When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the olderones, and He was leftalone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court.

8Straightening up, Jesussaid to her, "Woman, where are they? Did noonecondemn you?"

She said, "Noone, Lord." And Jesussaid, "9I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on 10sinnomore."]
