But Jesusanswered, "You do not knowwhat you are asking. Are you able1to drink the cup that I amabout to drink?" They said to Him, "We are able."
He said to them, "2My cup you shall drink; but to sit on My right and on My left, this is not Mine to give, 3but it is for those for whom it has been 4prepared by My Father."24
And hearing this, the ten became indignant with the twobrothers.
255But Jesuscalled them to Himself and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentileslord it over them, and their greatmenexerciseauthorityover them.26"It is not thiswayamong you, 6but whoeverwishes to becomegreatamong you shall be your servant,27and whoeverwishes to be firstamong you shall be your slave;28just as 7the Son of Man8did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His alife a ransom for many."
299As they were leavingJericho, a largecrowdfollowed Him.
And twoblindmensitting by the road, hearing that Jesus was passing by, cried out, "Lord, 10havemercy on us, 11Son of David!"
The crowdsternlytold them to be quiet, but they cried out all the more, "Lord, 12Son of David, havemercy on us!"
And Jesusstopped and called them, and said, "What do you want Me to do for you?"
