10 And 1he carried me away a2in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me 3the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, 11 having 4the glory of God. Her bbrilliance was like a very costly stone, as a 5stone of 6crystal-clear jasper. 12 cIt had a great and high wall, d7with twelve 8gates, and at the gates twelve angels ; and names were written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east and three gates on the north and three gates on the south and three gates on the west. 14 And the wall of the city had 9twelve foundation stones, and on them were the twelve names of the 10twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15 The one who spoke with me had a egold measuring 11rod to measure the city, and its 12gates and its wall. 16 The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width ; and he measured the city with the frod, gfifteen hundred miles ; its length and width and height are equal. 17 And he measured its wall, hseventy-two yards, according to 13human imeasurements, which are also 14angelic measurements. 18 The material of the wall was 15jasper ; and the city was 16pure gold, like jclear 17glass. 19 18The foundation stones of the city wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone was 19jasper ; the second, sapphire ; the third, chalcedony ; the fourth, 20emerald ; 20 the fifth, sardonyx ; the sixth, 21sardius ; the seventh, chrysolite ; the eighth, beryl ; the ninth, topaz ; the tenth, chrysoprase ; the eleventh, jacinth ; the twelfth, amethyst. 21 And the twelve 22gates were twelve 23pearls ; each one of the gates was a single pearl. And the street of the city was 24pure gold, like transparent 25glass. 22 I saw 26no ktemple in it, for the 27Lord God the Almighty and the 28Lamb are its ltemple. 23 And the city 29has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for 30the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the 31Lamb. 24 32The nations will walk by its light, and the 33kings of the earth mwill bring their glory into it. 25 In the daytime (for 34there will be no night there ) 35its gates 36will never be closed ; 26 and 37they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; 27 and 38nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those nwhose names are 39written in the Lamb's book of life.New American Standard Bible Copyright © 1960, 1962, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation, La Habra, California.
