1 Kings 12:28-30 NLT/NIV - Online Parallel Bible

New Living Translation (NLT) New International Version (NIV)
28 So on the advice of his counselors, the king made two gold calves. He said to the people, "It is too much trouble for you to worship in Jerusalem. O Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of Egypt!" 28 After seeking advice, the king made two golden calves. He said to the people, "It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt."
29 He placed these calf idols at the southern and northern ends of Israel -- in Bethel and in Dan. 29 One he set up in Bethel, and the other in Dan.
30 This became a great sin, for the people worshiped them, traveling even as far as Dan. 30 And this thing became a sin; the people went even as far as Dan to worship the one there.
