Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho, and the Lord showed him the whole land: Gilead as far as Dan, 1 Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the LORD showed him the whole land--from Gilead to Dan,
all Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Western Sea, 2 all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the western sea,
the Negeb, and the Plain—that is, the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees—as far as Zoar. 3 the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar.
The Lord said to him, "This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, "I will give it to your descendants'; I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not cross over there." 4 Then the LORD said to him, "This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, 'I will give it to your descendants.' I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it."
Then Moses, the servant of the Lord, died there in the land of Moab, at the Lord's command. 5 And Moses the servant of the LORD died there in Moab, as the LORD had said.
He was buried in a valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor, but no one knows his burial place to this day. 6 He buried him in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is.
Moses was one hundred twenty years old when he died; his sight was unimpaired and his vigor had not abated. 7 Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone.
The Israelites wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days; then the period of mourning for Moses was ended. 8 The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over.
Joshua son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, because Moses had laid his hands on him; and the Israelites obeyed him, doing as the Lord had commanded Moses. 9 Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the LORD had commanded Moses.
Never since has there arisen a prophet in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face. 10 Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,
He was unequaled for all the signs and wonders that the Lord sent him to perform in the land of Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants and his entire land, 11 who did all those miraculous signs and wonders the LORD sent him to do in Egypt--to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land.
and for all the mighty deeds and all the terrifying displays of power that Moses performed in the sight of all Israel. 12 For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.
