The Message (MSG) New International Version (NIV)
I'm in trouble. I cry to God, desperate for an answer: 1 I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.
"Deliver me from the liars, God! They smile so sweetly but lie through their teeth." 2 Save me, O LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.
Do you know what's next, can you see what's coming, all you barefaced liars? 3 What will he do to you, and what more besides, O deceitful tongue?
Pointed arrows and burning coals will be your reward. 4 He will punish you with a warrior's sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom tree.
I'm doomed to live in Meshech, cursed with a home in Kedar, 5 Woe to me that I dwell in Meshech, that I live among the tents of Kedar!
My whole life lived camping among quarreling neighbors. 6 Too long have I lived among those who hate peace.
I'm all for peace, but the minute I tell them so, they go to war! 7 I am a man of peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
