King James Version (KJV) New International Version (NIV)
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; 1 O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. 2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.
Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. 3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.
Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. 4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.
My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: 5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. 6 On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night.
Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice . 7 Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.
My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me. 8 My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth. 9 They who seek my life will be destroyed; they will go down to the depths of the earth.
They shall fall by the sword : they shall be a portion for foxes. 10 They will be given over to the sword and become food for jackals.
But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory : but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped . 11 But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by God's name will praise him, while the mouths of liars will be silenced.
