Psalm 2:1-6 ASV/NIV - Online Parallel Bible

American Standard Version (ASV) New International Version (NIV)
1 Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing? 1 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, [saying], 2 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One.
3 Let us break their bonds asunder, And cast away their cords from us. 3 "Let us break their chains," they say, "and throw off their fetters."
4 He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision. 4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.
5 Then will he speak unto them in his wrath, And vex them in his sore displeasure: 5 Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
6 Yet I have set my king Upon my holy hill of Zion. 6 "I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill."
