1 Corinthians 14:26-40

NKJV 26 How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. NIV 26 What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church. NKJV 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret. NIV 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two--or at the most three--should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. NKJV 28 But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God. NIV 28 If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and God. NKJV 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge. NIV 29 Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said. NKJV 30 But if anything is revealed to another who sits by, let the first keep silent. NIV 30 And if a revelation comes to someone who is sitting down, the first speaker should stop. NKJV 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged. NIV 31 For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged. NKJV 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. NIV 32 The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets. NKJV 33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. NIV 33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints, NKJV 34 Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. NIV 34 women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. NKJV 35 And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church. NIV 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church. NKJV 36 Or did the word of God come originally from you? Or was it you only that it reached? NIV 36 Did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached? NKJV 37 If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. NIV 37 If anybody thinks he is a prophet or spiritually gifted, let him acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord's command. NKJV 38 But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant. NIV 38 If he ignores this, he himself will be ignored. NKJV 39 Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues. NIV 39 Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. NKJV 40 Let all things be done decently and in order. NIV 40 But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.
