1 Timothy 2

TMB 1 I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, NIV 1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- TMB 2 for kings and for all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. NIV 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. TMB 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, NIV 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, TMB 4 who will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. NIV 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. TMB 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, NIV 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, TMB 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, NIV 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all men--the testimony given in its proper time. TMB 7 for which I am ordained a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth in Christ and lie not), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. NIV 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am telling the truth, I am not lying--and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles. TMB 8 It is my will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands without wrath and doubting. NIV 8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing. TMB 9 In like manner also, that women should adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobermindedness, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly array, NIV 9 I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, TMB 10 but, as becometh women professing godliness, with good works. NIV 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. TMB 11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. NIV 11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. TMB 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. NIV 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. TMB 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. NIV 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. TMB 14 And Adam was not deceived; but the woman, being deceived, was in the transgression. NIV 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. TMB 15 Notwithstanding, she shall be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobermindedness. NIV 15 But women will be saved through childbearing--if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
