2 Corinthians 2:5-11

CSB 5 If anyone has caused pain, he has not caused pain to me, but in some degree-not to exaggerate-to all of you. NIV 5 If anyone has caused grief, he has not so much grieved me as he has grieved all of you, to some extent--not to put it too severely. CSB 6 The punishment by the majority is sufficient for such a person, NIV 6 The punishment inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient for him. CSB 7 so now you should forgive and comfort him instead; otherwise, this one may be overwhelmed by excessive grief. NIV 7 Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. CSB 8 Therefore I urge you to confirm your love to him. NIV 8 I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him. CSB 9 It was for this purpose I wrote: so I may know your proven character, if you are obedient in everything. NIV 9 The reason I wrote you was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything. CSB 10 Now to whom you forgive anything, I do too. For what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, it is for you in the presence of Christ, NIV 10 If you forgive anyone, I also forgive him. And what I have forgiven--if there was anything to forgive--I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, CSB 11 so that we may not be taken advantage of by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his intentions. NIV 11 in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.
