Acts 2:1-6

NLT 1 On the day of Pentecost, seven weeks after Jesus' resurrection, the believers were meeting together in one place. NIV 1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. NLT 2 Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm in the skies above them, and it filled the house where they were meeting. NIV 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. NLT 3 Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. NIV 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. NLT 4 And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability. NIV 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. NLT 5 Godly Jews from many nations were living in Jerusalem at that time. NIV 5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. NLT 6 When they heard this sound, they came running to see what it was all about, and they were bewildered to hear their own languages being spoken by the believers. NIV 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.
