Ecclesiastes 1:1-6

NLT 1 These are the words of the Teacher, King David’s son, who ruled in Jerusalem. NIV 1 The words of the Teacher, son of David, king in Jerusalem: NLT 2 “Everything is meaningless,” says the Teacher, “completely meaningless!” NIV 2 "Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless." NLT 3 What do people get for all their hard work under the sun? NIV 3 What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun? NLT 4 Generations come and generations go, but the earth never changes. NIV 4 Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever. NLT 5 The sun rises and the sun sets, then hurries around to rise again. NIV 5 The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises. NLT 6 The wind blows south, and then turns north. Around and around it goes, blowing in circles. NIV 6 The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course.
