Ezekiel 18:1-6

NKJV 1 The word of the Lord came to me again, saying, NIV 1 The word of the LORD came to me: NKJV 2 "What do you mean when you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying: 'The fathers have eaten sour grapes, And the children's teeth are set on edge'? NIV 2 "What do you people mean by quoting this proverb about the land of Israel: " 'The fathers eat sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge'? NKJV 3 "As I live," says the Lord God, "you shall no longer use this proverb in Israel. NIV 3 "As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, you will no longer quote this proverb in Israel. NKJV 4 "Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die. NIV 4 For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son--both alike belong to me. The soul who sins is the one who will die. NKJV 5 But if a man is just And does what is lawful and right; NIV 5 "Suppose there is a righteous man who does what is just and right. NKJV 6 If he has not eaten on the mountains, Nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, Nor defiled his neighbor's wife, Nor approached a woman during her impurity; NIV 6 He does not eat at the mountain shrines or look to the idols of the house of Israel. He does not defile his neighbor's wife or lie with a woman during her period.
