Job 19

RHE 1 Then Job answered, and said: NIV 1 Then Job replied: RHE 2 How long do you afflict my soul, and break me in pieces with words? NIV 2 "How long will you torment me and crush me with words? RHE 3 Behold, these ten times you confound me, and are not ashamed to oppress me. NIV 3 Ten times now you have reproached me; shamelessly you attack me. RHE 4 For if I have been ignorant, my ignorance shall be with me. NIV 4 If it is true that I have gone astray, my error remains my concern alone. RHE 5 But you set yourselves up against me, and reprove me with my reproaches. NIV 5 If indeed you would exalt yourselves above me and use my humiliation against me, RHE 6 At least now understand, that God hath not afflicted me with an equal judgment, and compassed me with his scourges. NIV 6 then know that God has wronged me and drawn his net around me. RHE 7 Behold I shall cry suffering violence, and no one will hear: I shall cry aloud, and there is none to judge. NIV 7 "Though I cry, 'I've been wronged!' I get no response; though I call for help, there is no justice. RHE 8 He hath hedged in my path round about, and I cannot pass, and in my way he hath set darkness. NIV 8 He has blocked my way so I cannot pass; he has shrouded my paths in darkness. RHE 9 He hath stripped me of my glory, and hath taken the crown from my head. NIV 9 He has stripped me of my honor and removed the crown from my head. RHE 10 He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am lost, and he hath taken away my hope, as from a tree that is plucked up. NIV 10 He tears me down on every side till I am gone; he uproots my hope like a tree. RHE 11 His wrath is kindled against me, and he hath counted me as his enemy. NIV 11 His anger burns against me; he counts me among his enemies. RHE 12 His troops have come together, and have made themselves a way by me, and have besieged my tabernacle round about. NIV 12 His troops advance in force; they build a siege ramp against me and encamp around my tent. RHE 13 He hath put my brethren far from me, and my acquaintance like strangers have departed from me. NIV 13 "He has alienated my brothers from me; my acquaintances are completely estranged from me. RHE 14 My kinsmen have forsaken me, and they that knew me, have forgotten me. NIV 14 My kinsmen have gone away; my friends have forgotten me. RHE 15 They that dwell in my house, and my maidservants have counted me as a stranger, and I have been like an alien in their eyes. NIV 15 My guests and my maidservants count me a stranger; they look upon me as an alien. RHE 16 I called my servant, and he gave me no answer, I entreated him with my own mouth. NIV 16 I summon my servant, but he does not answer, though I beg him with my own mouth. RHE 17 My wife hath abhorred my breath, and I entreated the children of my womb. NIV 17 My breath is offensive to my wife; I am loathsome to my own brothers. RHE 18 Even fools despised me, and when I was gone from them, they spoke against me. NIV 18 Even the little boys scorn me; when I appear, they ridicule me. RHE 19 They that were sometime my counsellors, have abhorred me: and he whom I loved most is turned against me. NIV 19 All my intimate friends detest me; those I love have turned against me. RHE 20 The flesh being consumed, my bone hath cleaved to my skin, and nothing but lips are left about my teeth. NIV 20 I am nothing but skin and bones; I have escaped with only the skin of my teeth. RHE 21 Have pity on me, have pity on me, at least you my friends, because the hand of the Lord hath touched me. NIV 21 "Have pity on me, my friends, have pity, for the hand of God has struck me. RHE 22 Why do you persecute me as God, and glut yourselves with my flesh? NIV 22 Why do you pursue me as God does? Will you never get enough of my flesh? RHE 23 Who will grant me that my words may be written? who will grant me that they may be marked down in a book? NIV 23 "Oh, that my words were recorded, that they were written on a scroll, RHE 24 With an iron pen and in a plate of lead, or else be graven with an instrument in flint stone? NIV 24 that they were inscribed with an iron tool on lead, or engraved in rock forever! RHE 25 For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and in the last day I shall rise out of the earth. NIV 25 I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. RHE 26 And I shall be clothed again with my skin, and in my flesh I shall see my God. NIV 26 And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; RHE 27 Whom I myself shall see, and my eyes shall behold, and not another: this my hope is laid up in my bosom. NIV 27 I myself will see him with my own eyes--I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! RHE 28 Why then do you say now: Let us persecute him, and let us find occasion of word against him? NIV 28 "If you say, 'How we will hound him, since the root of the trouble lies in him, ' RHE 29 Flee then from the face of the sword, for the sword is the revenger of iniquities: and know ye that there is a judgment. NIV 29 you should fear the sword yourselves; for wrath will bring punishment by the sword, and then you will know that there is judgment. "
