Luke 2:1-6

WYC 1 And it was done in those days, a commandment went out from the emperor Augustus [a commandment went out from Caesar Augustus], that all the world should be described. NIV 1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. WYC 2 This first describing was made of Cyrenius, justice of Syria [justice, or keeper, of Syria]. NIV 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) WYC 3 And all men went to make profession, [or acknowledging,] each into his own city.
