He is not the God of the dead but of the living." NIV 32 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob' ? He is not the God of the dead but of the living." NAS 35 One of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, NIV 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: NAS 36 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" NIV 36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" NAS 37 And He said to him, " 'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' NIV 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' NAS 38 "This is the great and foremost commandment. NIV 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. NAS 39 "The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' NIV 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' NAS 40 "On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets." NIV 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." NAS 41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question: NIV 41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, NAS 42 "What do you think about the Christ, whose son is He?" They said to Him, "The son of David." NIV 42 "What do you think about the Christ ? Whose son is he?" "The son of David," they replied. NAS 43 He said to them, "Then how does David in the Spirit call Him 'Lord ,' saying, NIV 43 He said to them, "How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him 'Lord'? For he says, NAS 44 'THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD , "SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I PUT YOUR ENEMIES BENEATH YOUR FEET "'? NIV 44 " 'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet." ' NAS 45 "If David then calls Him 'Lord ,' how is He his son?" NIV 46 No one could say a word in reply, and from that day on no one dared to ask him any more questions.
