CJB 1 A gentle response deflects fury, but a harsh word makes tempers rise. NIV 1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. CJB 2 The tongue of the wise presents knowledge well, but the mouth of a fool spews out folly. NIV 2 The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.
