Proverbs 3

CEB 1 My son, don't forget my instruction. Let your heart guard my commands, NIV 1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, CEB 2 because they will help you live a long time and provide you with well-being. NIV 2 for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. CEB 3 Don't let loyalty and faithfulness leave you. Bind them on your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. NIV 3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. CEB 4 Then you will find favor and approval in the eyes of God and humanity. NIV 4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. CEB 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; don't rely on your own intelligence. NIV 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; CEB 6 Know him in all your paths, and he will keep your ways straight. NIV 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. CEB 7 Don't consider yourself wise. Fear the LORD and turn away from evil. NIV 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. CEB 8 Then your body will be healthy and your bones strengthened. NIV 8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. CEB 9 Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the first of all your crops. NIV 9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; CEB 10 Then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will burst with wine. NIV 10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. CEB 11 Don't reject the instruction of the LORD, my son; don't despise his correction. NIV 11 My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, CEB 12 The LORD loves those he corrects, just like a father who treats his son with favor. NIV 12 because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. CEB 13 Happy are those who find wisdom and those who gain understanding. NIV 13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, CEB 14 Her profit is better than silver, and her gain better than gold. NIV 14 for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. CEB 15 Her value exceeds pearls; all you desire can't compare with her. NIV 15 She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. CEB 16 In her right hand is a long life; in her left are wealth and honor. NIV 16 Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. CEB 17 Her ways are pleasant; all her paths are peaceful. NIV 17 Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. CEB 18 She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who hold her tight are happy. NIV 18 She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed. CEB 19 The LORD laid the foundations of the earth with wisdom, establishing the heavens with understanding. NIV 19 By wisdom the LORD laid the earth's foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; CEB 20 With his knowledge, the watery depths burst open, and the skies drop dew. NIV 20 by his knowledge the deeps were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew. CEB 21 My son, don't let them slip from your eyes; hold on to sound judgment and discretion. NIV 21 My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight; CEB 22 They will be life for your whole being, and an ornament for your neck. NIV 22 they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. CEB 23 Then you will walk safely on your path, and your foot won't stumble. NIV 24 when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. CEB 25 Don't fear sudden terror or the ruin that comes to the wicked. NIV 25 Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, CEB 26 The LORD will be your confidence; he will guard your feet from being snared.
