Proverbs 3

LEB 1 My child, do not forget my instruction, and may your heart guard my commands. NIV 1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, LEB 2 For length of days, years of life, and peace they shall add to you. NIV 2 for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. LEB 3 May loyal love and truth not forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them upon your heart. NIV 3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. LEB 4 And you shall find favor and good sense in the eyes of God and humankind. NIV 4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. LEB 5 {Trust Yahweh} with all your heart; do not lean toward your own understanding. NIV 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; LEB 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will straighten your paths. NIV 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. LEB 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear Yahweh and retreat from evil. NIV 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. LEB 8 There shall be healing for your {flesh}, and refreshment for your body. NIV 8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. LEB 9 Honor Yahweh from your substance, and from the firstfruits of all that will come to you, NIV 9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; LEB 10 and your barns shall be full of plenty, and your vats shall burst [with] new wine. NIV 10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. LEB 11 Do not despise the discipline of Yahweh, my child. Do not be weary of his reproof NIV 11 My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, LEB 12 because whomever Yahweh will love, he will rebuke, as a father delights in his son. NIV 12 because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. LEB 13 Happy [is] {the one} who finds wisdom, and one who obtains understanding. NIV 13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, LEB 14 For her income is better than the income of silver, and her revenue than [that of] gold. NIV 14 for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. LEB 15 She is more precious than rubies, and all your desires shall not compare with her. NIV 15 She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. LEB 16 Length of days [is] in her right hand; in her left hand [are] riches and honor. NIV 16 Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. LEB 17 Her ways [are] ways of pleasantness, and all her paths [are] peace. NIV 17 Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. LEB 18 She is a tree of life for those who seize her; those who take hold of her are considered happy. NIV 18 She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed. LEB 19 Yahweh in wisdom founded the earth; he established the heavens in understanding. NIV 19 By wisdom the LORD laid the earth's foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; LEB 20 With his knowledge, depths broke open, and clouds dropped dew. NIV 20 by his knowledge the deeps were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew. LEB 21 My child, may they not escape from your {sight}; may you keep sound wisdom and prudence. NIV 21 My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight; LEB 22 They shall be life for your soul and adornment for your neck. NIV 22 they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. LEB 23 Then you will walk in the confidence of your ways, and your foot will not stumble. NIV 23 Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble; LEB 24 If you sit down, you will not panic, and [if] you lie down, then your sleep shall be sweet. NIV 24 when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. LEB 25 Do not be afraid of sudden panic, or the storm of wickedness that will come. NIV 25 Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, LEB 26 Yahweh will be {your confidence} and guard your foot from capture. NIV 26 for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared. LEB 27 Do not withhold good from its owner when it is in the power of your hand to do. NIV 27 Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. LEB 28 Do not say to your neighbor, "Go and return and tomorrow I will give [it]," {when it is with you}. LEB 31 Do not envy a man of violence, and do not choose any of his ways, NIV 31 Do not envy a violent man or choose any of his ways, LEB 32 for he who is perverse [is] an abomination of Yahweh, but those who are upright [are] his confidence. NIV 32 for the LORD detests a perverse man but takes the upright into his confidence. LEB 33 The curse of Yahweh [is] on the house of the wicked, and the abode of the righteous ones he blesses. NIV 33 The LORD's curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous. LEB 34 With those who scorn, he is scornful, but to those who are humble, he gives favor. NIV 34 He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble. LEB 35 They will inherit the honor of the wise, but stubborn fools, disgrace.
