Proverbs 3

RHE 1 My son, forget not my law, and let thy heart keep my commandments. NIV 1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, RHE 2 For they shall add to thee length of days, and years of life, and peace. NIV 2 for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. RHE 3 Let not mercy aud truth leave thee, put them about thy neck, and write them in the tables of thy heart. NIV 3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. RHE 4 And thou shalt find grace, and good understanding before God and men. NIV 4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. RHE 5 Have confidence in the Lord with all thy heart, and lean not upon thy own prudence. NIV 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; RHE 6 In all thy ways think on him, and he will direct thy steps. NIV 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. RHE 7 Be not wise in thy own conceit: fear God, and depart from evil: NIV 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. RHE 8 For it shall be health to thy navel, and moistening to thy bones. NIV 8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. RHE 9 Honour the Lord with thy substance, and give him of the first of all thy fruits; NIV 9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; RHE 10 And thy barns shall be filled with abundance, and thy presses shall run over with wine. NIV 10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. RHE 11 My son, reject not the correction of the Lord: and do not faint when thou art chastised by him: NIV 11 My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, RHE 12 For whom the Lord loveth, he chastiseth: and as a father in the son he pleaseth himself. NIV 12 because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. RHE 13 Blessed is the man that findeth wisdom, and is rich in prudence: NIV 13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, RHE 14 The purchasing thereof is better than the merchandise of silver, and her fruit than the chief and purest gold: NIV 14 for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. RHE 15 She is more precious than all riches: and all the things that are desired, are not to be compared to her. NIV 15 She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. RHE 16 Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand riches and glory. NIV 16 Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. RHE 17 Her ways are beautiful ways, and all her paths are peaceable. NIV 17 Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. RHE 18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold on her: and he that shall retain her is blessed. NIV 18 She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed. RHE 19 The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth, hath established the heavens by prudence. NIV 19 By wisdom the LORD laid the earth's foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; RHE 20 By his wisdom the depths have broken out, and the clouds grow thick with dew. NIV 20 by his knowledge the deeps were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew. RHE 21 My son, let not these things depart from thy eyes: keep the law and counsel: NIV 21 My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight; RHE 22 And there shall be life to thy soul, and grace to thy mouth. NIV 22 they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. RHE 23 Then shalt thou walk confidently in thy way, and thy foot shall not stumble: NIV 23 Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble; RHE 24 If thou sleep, thou shalt not fear: thou shalt rest, and thy sleep shall be sweet. NIV 24 when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. RHE 25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, nor of the power of the wicked falling upon thee. NIV 25 Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, RHE 26 For the Lord will be at thy side, and will keep thy foot that thou be not taken. NIV 26 for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared. RHE 27 Do not withhold him from doing good, who is able: if thou art able, do good thyself also. NIV 27 Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. RHE 28 Say not to thy friend: Go, and come again: and to morrow I will give to thee: when thou canst give at present. NIV 28 Do not say to your neighbor, "Come back later; I'll give it tomorrow"-- when you now have it with you. RHE 29 Practise not evil against thy friend, when he hath confidence in thee. NIV 29 Do not plot harm against your neighbor, who lives trustfully near you. RHE 30 Strive not against a man without cause, when he hath done thee no evil. NIV 30 Do not accuse a man for no reason-- when he has done you no harm. RHE 31 Envy not the unjust man, and do not follow his ways. NIV 31 Do not envy a violent man or choose any of his ways, RHE 32 For every mocker is an abomination to the Lord, and his communication is with the simple. NIV 32 for the LORD detests a perverse man but takes the upright into his confidence. RHE 33 Want is from the Lord in the house of the wicked: but the habitations of the just shall be blessed. NIV 33 The LORD's curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous. RHE 34 He shall scorn the scorners, and to the meek he will give grace. NIV 34 He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble. RHE 35 The wise shall possess glory: the promotion of fools is disgrace. NIV 35 The wise inherit honor, but fools he holds up to shame.
