Psalm 132

CEB 1 LORD, remember David— all the ways he suffered NRS 1 O Lord, remember in David's favor all the hardships he endured; CEB 2 and how he swore to the LORD, how he promised the strong one of Jacob: NRS 2 how he swore to the Lord and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob, CEB 3 "I won't enter my house, won't get into my bed. NRS 3 "I will not enter my house or get into my bed; CEB 4 I won't let my eyes close, won't let my eyelids sleep, NRS 4 I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, CEB 5 until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the strong one of Jacob." NRS 5 until I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob." CEB 6 Yes, we heard about it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar. NRS 6 We heard of it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar. CEB 7 Let's enter God's dwelling place; let's worship at the place God rests his feet! NRS 7 "Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool." CEB 8 Get up, LORD, go to your residence— you and your powerful covenant chest! NRS 8 Rise up, O Lord, and go to your resting place, you and the ark of your might. CEB 9 Let your priests be dressed in righteousness; let your faithful shout out with joy! NRS 9 Let your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let your faithful shout for joy. CEB 10 And for the sake of your servant David, do not reject your anointed one. NRS 10 For your servant David's sake do not turn away the face of your anointed one. CEB 11 The LORD swore to David a true promise that God won't take back: "I will put one of your own children on your throne. NRS 11 The Lord swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back: "One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne. CEB 12 And if your children keep my covenant and the laws that I will teach them, then their children too will rule on your throne forever." NRS 12 If your sons keep my covenant and my decrees that I shall teach them, their sons also, forevermore, shall sit on your throne." CEB 13 Because the LORD chose Zion; he wanted it for his home. NRS 13 For the Lord has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his habitation: CEB 14 "This is my residence forever. I will live here because I wanted it for myself. NRS 14 "This is my resting place forever; here I will reside, for I have desired it. CEB 15 I will most certainly bless its food supply; I will fill its needy full of food! NRS 15 I will abundantly bless its provisions; I will satisfy its poor with bread. CEB 16 I will dress its priests in salvation, and its faithful will shout out loud with joy! NRS 16 Its priests I will clothe with salvation, and its faithful will shout for joy. CEB 17 It is there that I will make David's strength thrive. I will prepare a lamp for my anointed one there. NRS 17 There I will cause a horn to sprout up for David; I have prepared a lamp for my anointed one. CEB 18 I will dress his enemies in shame, but the crown he wears will shine." NRS 18 His enemies I will clothe with disgrace, but on him, his crown will gleam."
