Psalm 120

MSG 1 I'm in trouble. I cry to God, desperate for an answer: NIV 1 I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me. MSG 2 "Deliver me from the liars, God! They smile so sweetly but lie through their teeth." NIV 2 Save me, O LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues. MSG 3 Do you know what's next, can you see what's coming, all you barefaced liars? NIV 3 What will he do to you, and what more besides, O deceitful tongue? MSG 4 Pointed arrows and burning coals will be your reward. NIV 4 He will punish you with a warrior's sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom tree. MSG 5 I'm doomed to live in Meshech, cursed with a home in Kedar, NIV 5 Woe to me that I dwell in Meshech, that I live among the tents of Kedar! MSG 6 My whole life lived camping among quarreling neighbors. NIV 6 Too long have I lived among those who hate peace. MSG 7 I'm all for peace, but the minute I tell them so, they go to war! NIV 7 I am a man of peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
