Psalm 127

NLT 1 Unless the builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good. NIV 1 Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. NLT 2 It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones. NIV 2 In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat-- for he grants sleep to those he loves. NLT 3 Children are a gift from the ; they are a reward from him. NIV 3 Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. NLT 4 Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands. NIV 4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. NLT 5 How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them! He will not be put to shame when he confronts his accusers at the city gates. NIV 5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.
