Psalm 127

WBT 1 A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD shall build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the LORD shall keep the city, the watchman waketh in vain. NIV 1 Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. WBT 2 [It is] vain for you to rise early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: [for] so he giveth his beloved sleep. NIV 2 In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat-- for he grants sleep to those he loves. WBT 3 Lo, children [are] a heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb [is his] reward. NIV 3 Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. WBT 4 As arrows [are] in the hand of a mighty man: so [are] children of the youth. NIV 4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. WBT 5 Happy [is] the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. NIV 5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.
