Psalm 138

MSG 1 Thank you! Everything in me says "Thank you!" Angels listen as I sing my thanks. NIV 1 I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; before the "gods" I will sing your praise. MSG 2 I kneel in worship facing your holy temple and say it again: "Thank you!" Thank you for your love, thank you for your faithfulness; Most holy is your name, most holy is your Word. NIV 2 I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. MSG 3 The moment I called out, you stepped in; you made my life large with strength. NIV 3 When I called, you answered me; you made me bold and stouthearted. MSG 4 When they hear what you have to say, God, all earth's kings will say "Thank you." NIV 4 May all the kings of the earth praise you, O LORD, when they hear the words of your mouth. MSG 5 They'll sing of what you've done: "How great the glory of God!" NIV 5 May they sing of the ways of the LORD, for the glory of the LORD is great. MSG 6 And here's why: God, high above, sees far below; no matter the distance, he knows everything about us. NIV 6 Though the LORD is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from afar. MSG 7 When I walk into the thick of trouble, keep me alive in the angry turmoil. With one hand strike my foes, With your other hand save me. NIV 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me. MSG 8 Finish what you started in me, God. Your love is eternal - don't quit on me now. NIV 8 The LORD will fulfill [his purpose] for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever-- do not abandon the works of your hands.
