Psalm 141

NLT 1 O , I am calling to you. Please hurry! Listen when I cry to you for help! NIV 1 O LORD, I call to you; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to you. NLT 2 Accept my prayer as incense offered to you, and my upraised hands as an evening offering. NIV 2 May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. NLT 3 Take control of what I say, O , and guard my lips. NIV 3 Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. NLT 4 Don’t let me drift toward evil or take part in acts of wickedness. Don’t let me share in the delicacies of those who do wrong. NIV 4 Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers; let me not eat of their delicacies. NLT 5 Let the godly strike me! It will be a kindness! If they correct me, it is soothing medicine. Don’t let me refuse it. But I pray constantly against the wicked and their deeds. NIV 5 Let a righteous man strike me--it is a kindness; let him rebuke me--it is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it. Yet my prayer is ever against the deeds of evildoers; NLT 6 When their leaders are thrown down from a cliff, the wicked will listen to my words and find them true. NIV 6 their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs, and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken. NLT 7 Like rocks brought up by a plow, the bones of the wicked will lie scattered without burial. NIV 7 [They will say,] "As one plows and breaks up the earth, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of the grave. " NLT 8 I look to you for help, O Sovereign . You are my refuge; don’t let them kill me. NIV 8 But my eyes are fixed on you, O Sovereign LORD; in you I take refuge--do not give me over to death. NLT 9 Keep me from the traps they have set for me, from the snares of those who do wrong. NIV 9 Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, from the traps set by evildoers. NLT 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, but let me escape. NIV 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety.
