Psalm 146

NLT 1 Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD, I tell myself. NIV 1 Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. NLT 2 I will praise the LORD as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God even with my dying breath. NIV 2 I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. NLT 3 Don't put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. NIV 3 Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save. NLT 4 When their breathing stops, they return to the earth, and in a moment all their plans come to an end. NIV 4 When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing. NLT 5 But happy are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the LORD their God. NIV 5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, NLT 6 He is the one who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He is the one who keeps every promise forever, NIV 6 the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them-- the LORD, who remains faithful forever. NLT 7 who gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners. NIV 7 He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free, NLT 8 The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts the burdens of those bent beneath their loads. The LORD loves the righteous. NIV 8 the LORD gives sight to the blind, the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down, the LORD loves the righteous. NLT 9 The LORD protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked. NIV 9 The LORD watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. NLT 10 The LORD will reign forever. O Jerusalem, your God is King in every generation! Praise the LORD! NIV 10 The LORD reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations. Praise the LORD.
