Psalm 16

NCV 1 Protect me, God, because I trust in you. NIV 1 Keep me safe, O God, for in you I take refuge. NCV 2 I said to the Lord, "You are my Lord. Every good thing I have comes from you." NIV 2 I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing." NCV 3 As for the godly people in the world, they are the wonderful ones I enjoy. NIV 3 As for the saints who are in the land, they are the glorious ones in whom is all my delight. NCV 4 But those who turn to idols will have much pain. I will not offer blood to those idols or even speak their names. NIV 4 The sorrows of those will increase who run after other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood or take up their names on my lips. NCV 5 No, the Lord is all I need. He takes care of me. NIV 5 LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. NCV 6 My share in life has been pleasant; my part has been beautiful. NIV 6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. NCV 7 I praise the Lord because he advises me. Even at night, I feel his leading. NIV 7 I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. NCV 8 I keep the Lord before me always. Because he is close by my side, I will not be hurt. NIV 8 I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. NCV 9 So I rejoice and am glad. Even my body has hope, NIV 9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, NCV 10 because you will not leave me in the grave. You will not let your holy one rot. NIV 10 because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. NCV 11 You will teach me how to live a holy life. Being with you will fill me with joy; at your right hand I will find pleasure forever. A prayer of David. NIV 11 You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
