Psalm 37

RHE 1 (36-1) Be not emulous of evildoers; nor envy them that work iniquity. NIV 1 Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong; RHE 2 (36-2) For they shall shortly wither away as grass, and as the green herbs shall quickly fall. NIV 2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. RHE 3 (36-3) Trust in the Lord, and do good, and dwell in the land, and thou shalt be fed with its riches. NIV 3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. RHE 4 (36-4) Delight in the Lord, and he will give thee the requests of thy heart. NIV 4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. RHE 5 (36-5) Commit thy way to the Lord, and trust in him, and he will do it. NIV 5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: RHE 6 (36-6) And he will bring forth thy justice as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. NIV 6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. RHE 7 (36-7) Be subject to the Lord and pray to him. Envy not the man who prospereth in his way; the man who doth unjust things. NIV 7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. RHE 8 (36-8) Cease from anger, and leave rage; have no emulation to do evil. NIV 8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret--it leads only to evil. RHE 9 (36-9) For evildoers shall be cut off: but they that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the land. NIV 9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land. RHE 10 (36-10) For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: and thou shalt seek his place, and shalt not find it. NIV 10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. RHE 11 (36-11) But the meek shall inherit the land, and shall delight in abundance of peace. NIV 11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace. RHE 12 (36-12) The sinner shall watch the just man: and shall gnash upon him with his teeth. NIV 12 The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; RHE 13 (36-13) But the Lord shall laugh at him: for he foreseeth that his day shall come. NIV 13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming. RHE 14 (36-14) The wicked have drawn out the sword: they have bent their bow. To cast down the poor and needy, to kill the upright of heart. NIV 14 The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright. RHE 15 (36-15) Let their sword enter into their own hearts, and let their bow be broken. NIV 15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken. RHE 16 (36-16) Better is a little to the just, than the great riches of the wicked. NIV 16 Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked; RHE 17 (36-17) For the arms of the wicked shall be broken in pieces; but the Lord strengtheneth the just. NIV 17 for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous. RHE 18 (36-18) The Lord knoweth the days of the undefiled; and their inheritance shall be for ever. NIV 18 The days of the blameless are known to the LORD, and their inheritance will endure forever. RHE 19 (36-19) They shall not be confounded in the evil time; and in the days of famine they shall be filled: NIV 19 In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty. RHE 20 (36-20) Because the wicked shall perish. And the enemies of the Lord, presently after they shall be honoured and exalted, shall come to nothing and vanish like smoke. NIV 20 But the wicked will perish: The LORD's enemies will be like the beauty of the fields, they will vanish--vanish like smoke. RHE 21 (36-21) The sinner shall borrow, and not pay again; but the just sheweth mercy and shall give. NIV 21 The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously; RHE 22 (36-22) For such as bless him shall inherit the land: but such as curse him shall perish. NIV 22 those the LORD blesses will inherit the land, but those he curses will be cut off. RHE 23 (36-23) With the Lord shall the steps of a man be directed, and he shall like well his way. NIV 23 If the LORD delights in a man's way, he makes his steps firm; RHE 24 (36-24) When he shall fall he shall not be bruised, for the Lord putteth his hand under him. NIV 24 though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand. RHE 25 (36-25) I have been young and now am old; and I have not seen the just forsaken, nor his seed seeking bread. NIV 25 I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. RHE 26 (36-26) He sheweth mercy, and lendeth all the day long; and his seed shall be in blessing. NIV 26 They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be blessed. RHE 27 (36-27) Decline from evil and do good, and dwell for ever and ever. NIV 27 Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever. RHE 28 (36-28) For the Lord loveth judgment, and will not forsake his saints: they shall be preserved for ever. The unjust shall be punished, and the seed of the wicked shall perish. NIV 28 For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. They will be protected forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off; RHE 29 (36-29) But the just shall inherit the land, and shall dwell therein for evermore. NIV 29 the righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever. RHE 30 (36-30) The mouth of the just shall meditate wisdom: and his tongue shall speak judgment. NIV 30 The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just. RHE 31 (36-31) The law of his God is in his heart, and his steps shall not be supplanted. NIV 31 The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip. RHE 32 (36-32) The wicked watcheth the just man, and seeketh to put him to death, NIV 32 The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, seeking their very lives; RHE 33 (36-33) But the Lord will not leave him in his hands; nor condemn him when he shall be judged. NIV 33 but the LORD will not leave them in their power or let them be condemned when brought to trial. RHE 34 (36-34) Expect the Lord and keep his way: and he will exalt thee to inherit the land: when the sinners shall perish thou shalt see. NIV 34 Wait for the LORD and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you will see it. RHE 35 (36-35) I have seen the wicked highly exalted, and lifted up like the cedars of Libanus. NIV 35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man flourishing like a green tree in its native soil, RHE 36 (36-36) And I passed by, and lo, he was not: and I sought him and his place was not found. NIV 36 but he soon passed away and was no more; though I looked for him, he could not be found. RHE 37 (36-37) Keep innocence, and behold justice: for there are remnants for the peaceable man. NIV 37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright; there is a future for the man of peace. RHE 38 (36-38) But the unjust shall be destroyed to gether: the remnants of the wicked shall perish. NIV 38 But all sinners will be destroyed; the future of the wicked will be cut off. RHE 39 (36-39) But the salvation of the just is from the Lord, and he is their protector in the time of trouble.
