Psalm 50

RHE 1 (49-1) <A psalm for Asaph.> The God of gods, the Lord hath spoken: and he hath called the earth. From the rising of the sun, to the going down thereof: NIV 1 The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets. RHE 2 (49-2) Out of Sion the loveliness of his beauty. NIV 2 From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth. RHE 3 (49-3) God shall come manifestly: our God shall come, and shall not keep silence. A fire shall burn before him: and a mighty tempest shall be round about him. NIV 3 Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages. RHE 4 (49-4) He shall call heaven from above, and the earth, to judge his people. NIV 4 He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people: RHE 5 (49-5) Gather ye together his saints to him: who set his covenant before sacrifices. NIV 5 "Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice." RHE 6 (49-6) And the heavens shall declare his justice: for God is judge. NIV 6 And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is judge. "Selah" RHE 7 (49-7) Hear, O my people, and I will speak: O Israel, and I will testify to thee: I am God, thy God. NIV 7 "Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, your God. RHE 8 (49-8) I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices: and thy burnt offerings are always in my sight. NIV 8 I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, which are ever before me. RHE 9 (49-9) I will not take calves out of thy house: nor he goats out of thy flocks. NIV 9 I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, RHE 10 (49-10) For all the beasts of the woods are mine: the cattle on the hills, and the oxen. NIV 10 for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. RHE 11 (49-11) I know all the fowls of the air: and with me is the beauty of the field. NIV 11 I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine. RHE 12 (49-12) If I should be hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof. NIV 12 If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it. RHE 13 (49-13) Shall I eat the flesh of bullocks? or shall I drink the blood of goats? NIV 13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? RHE 14 (49-14) Offer to God the sacrifice of praise: and pay thy vows to the most High. NIV 14 Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, RHE 15 (49-15) And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. NIV 15 and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me." RHE 16 (49-16) But to the sinner God hath said: Why dost thou declare my justices, and take my covenant in thy mouth? NIV 16 But to the wicked, God says: "What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips? RHE 17 (49-17) Seeing thou hast hated discipline: and hast cast my words behind thee. NIV 17 You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you. RHE 18 (49-18) If thou didst see a thief thou didst run with him: and with adulterers thou hast been a partaker. NIV 18 When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers. RHE 19 (49-19) Thy mouth hath abounded with evil, and thy tongue framed deceits. NIV 19 You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit. RHE 20 (49-20) Sitting thou didst speak against thy brother, and didst lay a scandal against thy mother’s son: NIV 20 You speak continually against your brother and slander your own mother's son. RHE 21 (49-21) These things hast thou done, and I was silent. Thou thoughtest unjustly that I should be like to thee: but I will reprove thee, and set before thy face. NIV 21 These things you have done and I kept silent; you thought I was altogether like you. But I will rebuke you and accuse you to your face. RHE 22 (49-22) Understand these things, you that forget God; lest he snatch you away, and there be none to deliver you. NIV 22 "Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with none to rescue: RHE 23 (49-23) The sacrifice of praise shall glorify me: and there is the way by which I will shew him the salvation of God. NIV 23 He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God."
