Psalm 52

GNT 1 Why do you boast, great one, of your evil? God's faithfulness is eternal. NIV 1 Why do you boast of evil, you mighty man? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God? GNT 2 You make plans to ruin others; your tongue is like a sharp razor. You are always inventing lies. NIV 2 Your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor, you who practice deceit. GNT 3 You love evil more than good and falsehood more than truth. NIV 3 You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth. "Selah" GNT 4 You love to hurt people with your words, you liar! NIV 4 You love every harmful word, O you deceitful tongue! GNT 5 So God will ruin you forever; he will take hold of you and snatch you from your home; he will remove you from the world of the living. NIV 5 Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. "Selah" GNT 6 Righteous people will see this and be afraid; then they will laugh at you and say, NIV 6 The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at him, saying, GNT 7 "Look, here is someone who did not depend on God for safety, but trusted instead in great wealth and looked for security in being wicked." NIV 7 "Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!" GNT 8 But I am like an olive tree growing in the house of God; I trust in his constant love forever and ever. NIV 8 But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever. GNT 9 I will always thank you, God, for what you have done; in the presence of your people I will proclaim that you are good. NIV 9 I will praise you forever for what you have done; in your name I will hope, for your name is good. I will praise you in the presence of your saints.
